"Most of our services are available at zero out-of-pocket to those on a Medicaid health care plan. They are also open to the entire community, with a focus on accessibility."  They have a car seat program and educational classes for parenting and birth.

First Care Pregnancy Center

If you are concerned about an STD or an unplanned pregnancy or have questions and just need someone to talk with about your situation, First Care Pregnancy Center is available to help.  They don't judge, but offer free counseling to help you with your unique situation.  They have centers in 4 locations: Minneapolis, Richfield, Rochester, and St. Paul.

Urban Ventures

Parenting and studying classes for adults (with free childcare) and classes for kids including STEM, athletics, music, and nutrition.  Located in Minneapolis, Hennepin County.

Provides meals for birth families on Wednesdays from 5-6 pm.

Provides meals on Wednesday nights to the foster community.  You and your family can dine in or ask for pick up!

Grace Lutheran Church- Apple Valley

Free Community Meals served from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. on the first, second, and fourth Monday of each month (September-May) and the first and fourth Monday of each month (June-August).

New Life Church of Woodbury- Washington County

"Merrick’s Food Shelf is dedicated to connecting families and individuals with community resources to help eliminate the long-term causes of hunger."  Located at Woodland Hills Church and coming in the fall of '17, Gustov Aldophus Lutheran Church.

The Manna Pantry food shelf is available one Monday a month for free food and discounted meats.


Clothing/Housing Help:


The Dwelling Place is a Christian ministry that provides long-term transitional housing, basic needs, trauma-informed supportive services, educational programs and mentoring for women and their children fleeing domestic violence.The Dwelling Place fulfills the need for healing time and personal development by providing comprehensive programs for 12 months (or longer, if needed), allowing women and children the precious gift of time.

St. Stephen's Human Services Minneapolis

"If you are an adult living with or without minor children and are in danger of losing your housing, we have a limited amount of funding to help with financial crises for residents of Minneapolis"  They help you find housing!

Bridging Ramsey and Hennepin Counties

They provide furniture and household goods to those who are referred by a case worker or social worker.  If you are ready to rebuild and need help, just ask your worker to get on the list!  Locations in Roseville and Bloomington.

Redeeming Love Church Maplewood

They have a Blessings Closet available to the foster community with clothing needs.  It is open during church office hours.

Joseph's Coat St. Paul

"Our store, located at 1107 West 7th Street in St. Paul, is open for shopping on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 - 4:30 p.m.  Guests must provide a photo ID to shop once a week for clothing for all ages, household items and personal hygiene products."

Rebuilding together twin cities

"To apply for assistance from Rebuilding Together Twin Cities, you must submit an application along with proof of home ownership, such as a property tax statement; proof of household income, such as the previous year’s tax return; and proof of homeowners insurance.  Our repair services are provided at no charge to qualified homeowners.  We rely on the hard work of volunteers, as well as donated supplies, materials and tools to provide these services. Homeowners are asked to welcome the volunteers into their homes and work alongside them to the extent they are able."

Life on Life Mentoring believes in creating Christ-centered relationships that can bring real healing to our city. "Jump Start To The New You Program provides free workshops that teach essential life skills to women. We empower women of all ages to be mentally, spiritually, emotionally and financially equipped to make better life choices."  They also have programs for raising sons and daughters with values through mentorship, after school programs, and summer camps!  Located at First Covenant Church in St. Paul.

The Gathering is a place for women to go for support, relationships, and laughter.  We knit, make jewelry, drink coffee, play games, etc. in order to have conversation and encourage one another.  5:30-6:15- free meal; Programs for kids from 6:15-7:30 while women get a chance to unwind.

An elementary school mentoring program that provides "one-on-one relationships fostered by a Kids Hope USA program restore{s} self-confidence and personal security, and encourage{s} academic excellence in their school.  2 schools with the program are Woodbury Elementary and George W Gibbs, Jr Elementary School in Rochester.

Together for Good 

Together for Good is a network of volunteers and professional staff who come alongside parents facing chronic stress or crisis. We provide ongoing social support and practical help in three ways:

  1. CRISIS HOSTING: Caring volunteer families temporarily care for children for while parents in crisis regain stability.

  2. RESPITE CARE: Periodic pre-planned care of children on a once-weekly or monthly basis for parents facing chronic stress.

  3. SOCIAL SUPPORT: Ongoing relational support such as visits from a mentor, classes, fellowship meals as well as connection to resources as needed.

At Children's Theraplay, occupational and physical therapists partner with families, applying traditional and innovative therapeutic interventions to help children participate fully in the ordinary and extraordinary activities of daily life. Locations in Maplewood and Plymouth. ~Personal note- "I have had 6 kids using their therapists and have been impressed with their friendliness, communication, flexibility, and caring therapists!"

Their clinics offer Speech and Language Services to children, adolescents, and adults.  Also, their masters level, nationally certified Speech-Language Pathologists provide therapy and evaluations of speech and language difficulties.  To find out whether your child qualifies, check out the website.  Locations in St. Paul, Shoreview, Maplewood, and Plymouth.

Our clinics specialize in treating children ages birth through eighteen years with a variety of disorders, including: developmental motor or speech delays, sensory devensiveness and sensory processing disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, children with hearing loss, post coclear implant rehabilitation, articulation deficits and others. Located in Eagan and Apple Valley.

They do pediatric speech, mental health, and occupational therapy; they are "exceptionally fantastic," says a mother of 11.

It "provides pediatric physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy services in the Twin Cities, MN. Service settings include homes in the 7-county metro area, pools, child development centers, public and charter schools, and clinics within private schools."  They specialize in caring for kids with severe physical disabilities as well.

They work with referred families of highly stressed children ages prenatal to 4 to teach them positive parenting skills. They also do home visits to help parents set and work toward their goals and teach strategies for reducing their stress and planning for a family that will best meet their children’s needs.  The preschool provides individualized mental health, speech/language, and occupational therapy as needed during preschool hours.  Locations in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Rochester.  ~Personal note- "I highly recommend this preschool!  They truly cared for our kids and worked closely with us as foster and adoptive parents to help our kids through their tough transitions."
